Our History

Established in 1961, REC has been providing civil engineering consulting services in the public and the government sectors. What originally started with a modest background has now grown into one of the largest consulting firms in the country with permanent offices in the metropolitan cities and site office throughout the country at project locations.

Originally the firms main focus was towards structural engineering. Some of the initial projects like the Al-Hamra Arts Council Auditorium Mall Road Lahore which received like Agha Khan Award for Architecture in 1999 prove to be a hallmark for the company. However over the years it has gained expertise in highway design, irrigation works and town planning as well.

With the advent of international funding agencies investing in the infrastructure and social development projects in Pakistan, REC diversified its expertise in the field of highways and irrigation works as well. The successful completion of the Shorkot-Kamalia unit of SCARP V, SCARP VII, SCARP VIII FOR WAPDA and Sewerage, drainage and water supply for Faisalabad Development Authority were major breakthroughs for the firm as far as the irrigation side is concerned.

However the real achievements were yet to come. The project of Karachi-Hyderabad Super Highway designed by the firm proved to be a milestone in the development of the company as well as the transportation system of the country. This lead towards achievement of other big projects like the design of Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2), Lahore Bypass section of M-2 and sections of, Indus Highway and over 250 Km Coastal Highway.
